What Tools Do Landscapers Need to Create Content?

Phone. Edits or CapCut. A microphone. That's the entire stack. Here's why landscape companies don't need anything else to start.
According to the data, the most-watched videos on Instagram and TikTok are filmed on devices most landscape company owners already carry in their pocket. The barrier to entry for content creation is now functionally zero. Anything else you buy in the first 90 days is a distraction.
The full starter stack
- Your phone
- Instagram Edits or CapCut for trimming and captions
- A clip-on microphone (audio quality matters more than video quality)
What to skip — for now
- Drones — beautiful, but irrelevant for trust-building content
- Cinema cameras — every minute spent setting them up is a minute not posting
- Editing software with a learning curve — Premiere, DaVinci, Final Cut
- A production team — until you've proven you'll show up consistently
Better gear is an amplifier, not a starting point.
When to level up
Once you can consistently create content with the tools in your pocket, better equipment starts to amplify the system you've already built. Buy gear after the habit. Not before.
